Why should you consider a water treatment system for your boat?
Most ships have water tanks to store fresh or drinking water. However, many seafarers often rely on bottled water on long voyages due to concerns about the safety of the stored water as well as the unpleasant taste and smell of water kept in the tanks for long periods of time.
Why don't sailors drink water from the water tanks?
Doubtful water sources from various locations
Due to the remote travel of many mariners, it is sometimes difficult to obtain water from regulated drinking water sources. Even marinas that obtain their water from public sources may have contaminated distribution systems (e.g. pipe buildup, sediment and biofilm/algae), which compromises water quality.
Water tanks are often associated with biofilms and taste and odor problems
Once the fresh water reaches the boat or yacht, it is stored in water tanks, which can lead to the formation of biofilms and taste and odor problems. Many factors affect the severity of these problems, including the quality of the source water, storage time, and temperatures.
Problems with transporting bottled water
Firstly, this practice creates environmental problems related to the disposal of plastic bottle waste. The empty bottles often have to be stored throughout the trip as access to recycling options is limited. In addition, an additional carbon footprint is created through the production and distribution of bottled water.
Secondly, there is limited space on most ships to store large quantities of bottled water.
An alternative solution
The Watersprint Solo Nautic Water Purification System allows mariners to eliminate both problems and rely on freshwater tanks as a source of drinking water. It eliminates the hassle of sourcing and transporting bottled water and provides a convenient solution for microbiologically safe water.
Watersprint Solo Nautic
Water treatment system All-in-one solution for fresh water treatment. Activated carbon pre-filtration and UVC LED disinfection.
Enjoy purified water at sea
Discover the Watersprint Solo Nautic water treatment system – a practical solution for microbiologically safe water without harmful chemicals, specially designed for marine conditions.
Our product line includes two models, Solo Nautic II and Solo Nautic IV. These all-in-one systems offer comprehensive fresh water treatment with robust activated carbon pre-filtration and a UVC LED unit for effective water disinfection.
activated carbon + UVC LED
Our state-of-the-art UVC LED technology ensures effective water disinfection by inactivating harmful microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses – without the use of toxic chemicals.
The powerful activated carbon filter further improves water quality by reducing chlorine, taste and odor (CTO) and volatile organic compounds (VOC). The larger activated carbon block in the Solo Nautic IV also reduces heavy metals.
UVC-LED technology
There are different types of ultraviolet light, with UVA and UVB being the more common types. We use UVC light, which is produced by LEDs. UVC light has been shown to be extremely effective for disinfection.
Our product consists of a light chamber with high reflectivity, which ensures that all the water flowing through is exposed to UVC light.
UVC light inactivates harmful microbes such as bacteria and viruses, making them completely harmless.
